A scientist has been working on artificial photosynthesis to generate energy from the CO2 in the air. He based his model on the leaf. Heinz Frei at Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) is getting closer to this goal. If it becomes cheap enough energy, this could become very popular but it can be a big hurdle for a concept like this to compete with current energy models.
