There are 2 programs to do this, both support a variety of operating systems. But it’s very hard number crunching so this is not for a tablet or phone, it’s for a desktop PC. If you have a support graphics card it will use your graphic card to do the heavy math.
For Folding at Home and Rosetta at Home you will need to sign up with an email address and create a username.
Folding at home
Using Folding at Home: https://foldingathome.org/2020/02/27/foldinghome-takes-up-the-fight-against-covid-19-2019-ncov/
Choose “Any disease” which will let you process COVID-19 Work Units. For Nvidia cards install the “Studio” drivers from Nvidia direct, not “Game” drivers. If you don’t get a Work Unit (WU) then they have nothing for you. You also can earn points for WUs you finish and you can apply those points to a team, or to no one.
I use FAH and I don’t have any WUs at all at the moment.
FAH Support forum, you will need another user id here I believe: https://foldingforum.org/
Download FAH software: https://foldingathome.org/start-folding/
Rosetta@Home
Or use Rosetta@Home. Here’s their news release: https://www.ipd.uw.edu/2020/02/rosettas-role-in-fighting-coronavirus/
They currently have 925,000 jobs in the queue waiting to be processed.
